								Unthank 10 April 1778

Dear Madm.

      I waited acknowledging your favour of the 26 Ulto in hopes of having a call from Mr. Angus who <I> have not seen, as he has not be returned before this, hope he has given a satisfactory answer as to sinking the Ingine [Engine] for the rest, shall let it be til I am able to ride so far, no Objection now but the giddyness in my head, by times; and find Cold increases it, crossing the moors is sure to Effect, the Air being sharp & much more Chilly than where I live; wch is within a Stones throw of the River side and plentifully covered with timber. Mr. Robson writ me he had my Bill upon your Son. If Mr. Pearson has the money he can see him anytime, the two of us being so near each other. Mr. Robertson I Expect will be at Blanchland on Monday <first>, If he has Cash for my Bill with him, can get it there.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
