Mr Darwin Hatton Street London Newcas 9th Septr. 1777

Sir I received your Favour of the 1st instant inclosing me your Account which on Examination I find right. I have signed and return it you inclosed. I observe what you say as to the list of Payments & that the Legatees are to take Place from the 14th Febr[uar]y _ the List as you corrected it will answer for Mr Wall but when I inclosed it to you I meant to send such a List as I should settle with you for; I shall draw out a List & send to Mr Thos. Wall.

Doctor Blacketts may be struck off as he will be paid off in Decem[be]r next & shall be glad to know to what time you paid him the last Int[e]rest & likewise to what time Mrs Scott is paid as she will be paid off the Principal next Month I dont know whether the Bond to Doctor <Dickinson> is for the Payment of an Annuity for the life of his Son or only for his Education till he is of the Age of 21 Years but probably you can inform me & at present it must be in the List as must Mrs Ann Brown. I observe what you say with respect to the two Mrs Dalstones & am a little surprised that those Ladies should make the least Hesitation about accepting the Article you drew up after Sir John Trevelyan had so handsomely consented to the Payment of the larger Annuity & by a Clause in the late Sir Walter Blacketts Will or Codicil its plain it was not his Intention that they should have two Annuities nor can they compel the Payment of both; however I think they should not delay giving their Answer & I submit it to you whether it may not be proper to apply to them again. I received the two Receipts for Sir Edw[ar]d Winningtons half Year Int[e]rest & Dr Thurlows for the Tithe Ore . If you will please to send me your Bill on Acco[un]t of the Schedule of the Deeds etc Mr Fawcett & Mr Wilson will determine the Proportions that Sir John Trevelyan & Sir Tho[ma]s Blackett are each to pay. I am etc J E B.

A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
