Dear Sir

      The enclosed Papers had been mislayed, Geo. Forster called this morning with his Candle Bills for Coalcleugh, & Allenheads, signed by the Agents amounting to £186.10... which I paid; On my giving him Notice that no more Candles would for the future be taken from him for your Mines; he made a request that his Stock of Candles in hand which had been made for the use of your Mines may be taken from him amounting to about 100 Dozen, I thought it reasonable & consented to it.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
