Dear Sir Your favour of the 6th inst I duly received, & I am happy to hear that Mrs Beaumont & her little One are doing well; I hope that they may continue so; I wrote to acquaint Mr Bell of the events & I was told Yesterday that the Bells were ringing merrily on the occasion. I last Post wrote Mr Skelton a long Letter on business which I shall not trouble you with at present.
You will recieve inclosed a Bill drawn by Ridley Cookson & Co on Castell Powell & Co of this date at One Month for £4000 the Rec[eip]t of which you will please to acknowledge.
The Sailors of this Port have been in a very Riotous State for this Month past to oblige the Ship Owners to pay a considerable advance of Wages, alth[ough] the Wages at this Port are much higher than at any other Ports in the Kingdom; they have already Committed many Violent Acts & its feared they will proceed greater lengths; Goverment have been applied to by the Justices of the three Counties for an additional Force.
