      I received your Letter and observe that you will be down with me for Subsistence Money &c. for the Workmen on the 22d. inst & that you will have Occasion for £1800. – which is a very large Sum and more than I expected.      I think that the Application from the Workmen is very improper & unreasonable, Considering the great Increase of the of the lending Money, and the considerable Supply of Corn which they have at a reduced Price, but the Weardale Miners have of late Years been very Troublesome and the Promoters of Mischief &c.   Prevent them if possible from coming down at this Time, as Coln. & Mrs. Beaumont are not at this Place at present, neither shall I till Monday, they will be at Allenheads & Weardale the middle of August at which Time and Place they may make their Application.   I am &c. J.E.B.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
