Dear Sir

      I have been favoured with a Letter from Mr. Chisholm, acknowledgeing the Rect. of my Letter to you of the 18th. ulto. with the several Papers; I now enclose you under another Cover some further Instructions to enable the Council to prepare an Answer to the Bill filed by the Bishop of Durham against Mr. & Mrs. Beaumont; you will be pleased to inform me as soon as you conveniently can, what further Information may be thought necessary in this Business as I go from home on the 16th. inst. & shall not return till the 2d. Octr. – I shall be obliged to you for your Opinion on this strange Claim of the Bishop & likewise to be informed what Council you have retained.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
