Gentn	I am favoured with you[r] letter of the 10th inst & observe the Contents.  I am concerned to find that you have been disappointed in your expectations of Purchasing the fifty Lasts of Rye on Account of the Exportation from some of the adjacent Countries being forbid; Notwithstanding the prices are at present very high, I must desire that you will purchase fifty Lasts of Rye of the best quality, on the best terms that you possibly can, & ship the same for me to this Port, by the first safe opportunity, advising me of the same, that I may take the necessary measures, & your Bills for the Amount, (as I before advised) will be duly honoured	I am with great Regard Gentn    Your most obed[ien]t Serv[an]t

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
