Letter – John Erasmus Blackett to John Trevelyan – 13 Jan 1785

Dear Sir     I wrote to you the 10th inst. to wch. I refer you.  I am since favoured with your letter of the 8th inst. the Contents of which I immediately Communicated to Mr. Herron who inform’d me that he had, by that Post, wrote to Mr Satteney & enclosed him the Article entered into by the Duke of Portland, so am in hopes by this time that Mr. Trevelyan’s Article is deliver’d up & a final end put to the Affair.  I am surprised that Mr. Trevelyan did not sooner write to Mr. Herron to Stop Mr. Satteney  Proceeding any further in the Business, wch. was a very necessary step to save him any further Expence for Satteney is a Person who will take every Advantage of the kind.  Inclosed you will receive Bell Carr & Co‘s Bill on Castell & Co dated 12th inst. at one Month for £200.  the receipt of which you will please to acknowledge.

     Three Kitts of Salmon will be sent directed for you by the Windsor Capt. Gallilee a Ship of Mr. Simpson’s and Mine which will be ready to Sail on Sunday next.  Salmon was never known to be so scarce & dear at this Season from 12d to 18d p[er] lb.  I intend being at Wallington on the 1st May your Rent day being on Monday.  I am etc  J. E. Blackett
