Sir	I am sorry to find that so large a quantity of Mr Beaumont’s Lead still remains on the Road by which he is a considerable Sufferer not only by loosing the Sale of it at a Time when it bore a much better price than at present, but the loss by the pigs cut, as well as a quantity stolen is very great indeed, & it is lately become so great an Evil that it is highly necessary that proper Measures shod be taken for the remedy of it; I shall procure an Acct of the Lead remaining on the Road at the Pay, as well as the Quantity that appears at that Time to be Missing, the value of which must be left in my hands untill the Lead is Accounted for by Mr Pringle etc and for the future some Method must be taken to oblige the Lead Carriers to deliver the quantity of Lead that they take from the Mills before the Winter, & not to suffer it to lay exposed for so long a Time to the Depredations of thiefs etc.

	After what I have said on this Business I have no doubt that you will use your exertion with Pringle to have the Lead delivered at Blaydon before the Pay

	I have lately sold a pretty large quantity of Lead on wch Accot it will be necessary that the new Lead now on the Road etc sh[oul]d be got down as soon as possible.
