Dear Madam

      I wrote to you the 21st & 23rd Inst. to which I refer you; I had yesterday the Favor of your Letter of the 23rd & observe that Mr Maude of Sir W[ilia]m Loraine’s Bank gave you Hopes of their accepting my Draft for the Amount of £8,000 at 6 Weeks Date; they have this Day agreed to accept the same, the Discount being charged to you (which indeed I expected); this reduces the Sum to £8,000-0-0 for which I shall on 28th Inst. draw on Messrs Glyn & Co. at sight, as I shall on the 31st at 30 Days Date to sundries for about £800 of which I have advised them, & have by this Day’s Post remitted them Bills amounting to £3.191-6-3 at six Months Date for the last lead sold. 

	Your Favor of the 24th I received this Day, & am sorry that you have ahd so much Trouble about the Dollars; those that are already rec[eive]d with some small Silver that we got & your Supply of half Guineas & 7s/-d pieces will be fully sufficient to make the Pay to the Satisfaction of the Workman, as well as the Country etc.

	I am selling small Quantities of Lead as the Price that I sold the former of w[hi]ch I informed you; in the Situation of this Country at present the Lead Houses do not incline to make any large Purchases, nor do I think that a reduction of the Price (unless it was a considerable one) would induce them to come forward in making a large Purchase; I had this Day an Offer of £28 the Fo[dder] for from 3 to 5,000 Pieces of Com[mo]n Lead, which I declined; I should not have objected to a Reduction of 5s/- the Fo[dder] Viz £29-15 for Com[mo]n Lead, but I could not obtain it.

	I expect that Mr Bowns will be at this Place Tomorrow Evening, but I do not apprehend any good Effects from the Meeting on Monday. I am apprehensive that we shall have a great deal of unpleasant Business respecting the Purchase of the Steel Hall Estate etc.
