Letter – Isaac Hunter to Henry Richmond – 3 Jun 1769

Sr,

I wish you would allow me to send Mr. Salkeld to Rookhope Mill for 3 weeks or a month's time. I promise you this Mill shall not be neglected in the time, for Salkelds Son is able to keep an Acco[un]t of the Receipt & Deliv[er]y & I shall take care to inspect the Workings &c once a Day during his absence for Mr. R. H. does not keep the Books &c exactly in the Manner I would choose they should be kept; and in that time Salkeld would be able to point out the Method so clearly that he could not avoid being made Master of it, and his conduct afterwards would plainly show whether he takes any pleasure in the Business or not.  The Lead from this & Rookhope Mills is going quickly away but I cannot say so much for Allenheads, tho' I have acquainted all the Dukesf'd Mill Wainmen that they will get no more Lead f[ro]m her till Allenheads be cleared so expect there will be a good many Draug[h]ts at her on Monday.
