The severity of the weather hindered us f[ro]m geting the Litharge Slags Washed w[hi]ch prevented me from sending you the inclosed Acco[un]t sooner. I am affraid as the quantity of Lead at the Bankf[oo]t is nearly 1100 Ps that it will not be got in before May, therefor imagine we may be puting things in readiness for the Pay. But I expect to see you in a Week or 10 days time & then shall give you An Acco[un]t of the Lead Waiting & Mr. Sparke's progress.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
