Mr. Richmond wants comon Lead at Market & we have sent all that we had at the Mill, and as we have no Ores to make it off but what we get f[ro]m the Groves, therefor desire you'll send us your Ores in as fast as you possible can for the Smelters are now Smelting of it & I would like to keep them as long on it as one could, that we may be able to send a few Hundred Ps of that Lead to Markett next Month. We have smelted almost all the Ore we have got f[ro]m the Mines befor this day & to keep our Smelters going for a few Week of your Ore would take a Hundred Bing p[er] Week. & am

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
