To Mr Rd. Horne Ravensworth. Castle Novr 2nd 1759

Sir

Inclosed we send you the several proposals we have rec’d for Lead Mines, which be pleased to lay before the Board for their Confirmation. And you will likewise receive herein a proposal from William Willson on behalf of himself & Robert Mallabar for liberty of Erecting a Draw Kiln & Burning Lime at Fell End in the Barrony of Langley which we have agreed to subject to the Boards approbation with this difference only that they be Tennants at Will determinable at any time on Six Months notice & paying them for the Kiln in the Manner proposed. This method we think better than granting a Term on Lease as we apprehend this Quarry may become usefull in case of a Division of Commons.

We have lett great & Little hills Farm to William & Thos. Todd (subject to the Boards pleasure) for the Term of Twenty Yers from old Mayday last at £15.10..p annum which we think as much as it is worth & hope the Board will approve of it. This small Farm lyes contiguous to & adjoining upon Land Ends Farm now in possession of Wm & Thos Todd & may be very properly included in their Leases as it save any Expence of Housing which otherwise might be necessary.

In pursuance of the Boards commands we waited upon Mr Ord relating the payment of his Fee Farm Rents & acquainted him with the Boards Order, since which he has paid those Rents & taken Receipts as usual. We are

      Sir yours etc

      Hugh Boag Nichos. Walton Jun.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
