Sir

In Answer to the postscript of your Letter of the 5th instt wherein you say that “You hope for Indulgence in the Arrangem[en]t of the payment of the Money” you are to give for East Kenton Sir Walter Blackett bids me give his Compliments to you and acquaint you that he has sold you that Estate very cheap and that his reason for doing so was an Engagement he is under to raise £10000 against the 18th Novemr; so that he must expect your Answer by the return of the post agreeing absolutely to this condition of the sale and then he will write to Mr Darwin of Greys Inn to assist any Agent of your’s in London in settling the Conveyance of that Estate. The Writings of which are all there. I am etc    HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
