To Mr Isaac Hunter at Dukesfield Newcas[tle] 8 April 1766

Sir I have received by the Hexham carrier the piece of silver mentioned in your Letter; which weighs no more than five hundred and twenty four ounces and a half.

As to the Delivery of Lead from the Mills; I think it will answer little purpose to set on the Rookhope carriage before Mayday and also that the present high price of corn and hay will not allow of a reduction in the price of that carriage this year. But this I leave to your judgement; for circumstances may alter before Mayday.

With regard to the delivery from Dukesfield Mill, you may begin that when you will; only take care to deliver the refined Lead first, for it will be wanted & you may be fetching Lead from Rookhope to Dukesfield as soon as you will. I am etc HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
