The annexed letter will explain my observations to you in a former letter, upon the sum invested by Mr B[eaumon]t in the Allendale Road. I have taken considerable interest in it since it has fallen under my observation as Mr B[eaumon]ts representative and I am glad to be able to give you so good an ac[coun]t of its present prospect to pay at least a portion of Interest. When this was returned in the Executors List acc[oun]t it was considered of little or no value, as no Interest whatsoever had been paid upon it & it was the intention of the Trustees to expend a large sum upon some new Branches, but I thought them not absolutely required,& they have for the present abandoned them . I think it right that Mr B[eaumon]t should wave [sic] his priority of claim to be paid the £1500 as the other party will I have no doubt in that case give up on their £1682 and consolidate the whole amount without preference Mr B[eaumon]t is now receiving as Mr Crawhall justly observed by the reduction of Ore and Lead Carriage at least £1200 per annum for which the other parties receive nothing beyond the accommodation of an excellent road which before was often impossible. Please to lay the report before Mr Beaumont the first opportunity.
