Messrs Finlay Hodgson & Co Newcastle Feby 23 1833

Dear Sir

In answer to your lrs of the 19th & 20th inst I now hand you a copy of abstract of acct of the Limehouse works sent to me by Mr Key in Novr last. Also a balance of acct due from the Limehouse Works 10thAugt 1831 & Acct current since Mr Keys acct is not a distinct acct of Mr Beaumonts liabilities to the legaties so far as the Limehouse Works are concerned. The simple statement of Mr Beaumonts liability on account of those works will be the value of the Stock on Hand, the amount of recoverable debts, Cash in Hand and value of Machinery on the 10th Augt 1831 less by sundry payments then due.

I also send you an Abstract Acct of Stock at the Mines and Mills at that period.

Mrs Beaumont having devised effects sufficient to meet the Payment of the Legacies, & Mr Beaumont having administerd to her Will, & made made himself liable to the Payment. I conceive two Accts must be opened – The one Mr Bt as Exor of Mrs Bt in acct with the Estates and Effects of the Testatrix.

And Mr Bt as above in Acct with the Legatees under the Will.Mr Donkin & myself are preparing a statement of all matters relating to the Payment of the Legacies and a general statement of Mr Bt affairs. In respect to my accts of Monthly payments for July & Novr I beg reference to my lres of Aug 18th and Decr 3rd the dates on which those accts were forwarded from this office, and which are specially indorsed upon the backs of the copies by Mr Backhouse as sent on those days.

Messrs Maltby & Co Payments fall due as stated in the prospective acct I sent you on the 16th inst. By reffering to your copy of their Contract dated Decr 12th 1832 you will find that the payment is to be in their acceptances falling due 8 months from the date of Contract.

The lead sent to Messrs Grace & Freeman has been and will be of the best description of refined Lead, and you can explain to them why I never use the term selected.

No Bills have been drawn on acct of sums due from Messrs Maltby or Mr Wm Parker.

Mr Pattinson has not returned from the Mills, as soon as I have an opportunity of seeing him I will explain the cause of the extra quantity of refined Lead and the means to be adopted to remedy it. The annual accts are in hand and shall be sent in a few days.

							I am Sir BJ

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
