Messrs Wheeldon & Webster Derby To Tho[mas] Rich[ar]d Beaumont Esq 1801 August 5th For 10 Casks Litharge q Cwt 60-0-0 @ £24 per ton £72 Messrs Bellairs & Co Bankers Derby Newcastle 28 January 1808 As Agent to Col Beaumont I take the liberty of troubling you with the above and to request that you will have the goodness to receive the amount of Messrs Wheeldon & Webster in your Town & for which, if you succeed to remit me a Bill upon London after deducting charges. These Gentlemen ought to pay Interest after the expiration of the usual Credit of 6 months, they having remitted a Bill which was dishonoured and with £1-2-10 Expences returned to them; on the 15 October 1802 Mr Blackett the then Agent of Col Beaumont rec[eive]d a letter from them expressing their mortification & saying they ordered payment of the money to Ransom & Co in London, but which has not been done. If however they reject paying Interest & the Principle can be obtained, you will oblige me by so settling it. I shall feel a pleasure in rendering you service in this Country & am etc MM
