Dr. Sir

      I was favoured with your Letter of the 15th. inst. enclosing me Colonel Scott’s Letter for which I am much obliged to you.-

      T.Crawhall has wrote to his Father to know what he paid on Account of Mr. Lee for the Poney &c. when we have his Answer, you shall be informed.

      The very wet Weather we have had prevents Mr. W.Bates proceeding with the Valuation of your Estates: it is not possible they should be finished before you go up to Town.

The Mines in Weardale are much in the State they were when the last Report was made, Coalcleugh something better: on Tuesday last a fresh Float was cut at Allenheads to the East of the former wch. has a very promising Appearance. – I am &c.- J.E.B.



The Mill at Blaydon Burn, of which you were (as one of the Lords of Winlaton) 1/4th concerned, has been burnt to the Ground, the Lords only received £11 -..-.. annual Rent; it certainly will not be advisable for the Lords to rebuild it, or to be at any further Expence on that Account: this I thought proper to mention to you, least any Application should be made to you.-

By this Post I have your Letter of the 17th. inst. & observe the Contents, which shall be attended to: Should Mr. Deakin come on Tuesday next, T.Crawhall shall go with him to Hexham & Dukesfield, tho I can very ill spare him at this Time, having this Evening received from Mr. Heron, the Answer from you & Mrs. Beaumont to the Bill filed against you by the Bishop, which shall be revised and taken into full Consideration.-
