Dear Madam

      I wrote to you the 22d. inst. to which I beg leave to refer you.-

      Mr. Ant.y Surtees has been with me this morning to inform me that there is a Prospect of Mr. I: Hunter disposing of his Share of the Brewery at Alstone, but it will depend on the following Circumstances: That the Payments for the same be at six, twelve,  and eighteen Months, that you shall be paid four or five Hundred Pounds in the Course of three Months (in part of his Bond) and the remainder at 18 Months provided you will give up the Interest for the whole term; this Proposal Mr. A: Surtees desired that I would communicate to you and Coln. Beaumont for your Determination.

      Any Opposition that be given to the additional Duty on Lead exported, I apprehend would not avail at present; this Duty cannot by the Act of Union effect the Lead of those Mines that were worked at the time of the Union and the Scots Claim, that Exemption for a great part of their Mines.

P.S. I received a Letter from Mr. J. Bell acquainting me that there has been sent from Dukesfield for the Abbey 92 Pieces of Lead near 7 Ton.   The Lead is finished &c.
