Dear Madam,

      I am favoured with your Letters of the 5th and 8th Inst. & am happy to hear you found your young Family in Health, & of Mr Wentworth’s Success in gaining his Remove into the fifth Form in a Manner so highly honourable to himself as well as creditable to his Tutor Mr Bird.

	In two or three Days I shall be able to inform you the Days in the next Month that will be the most suitable for the letting the Bargains in your several Mines of which I will give you & Mr Bowns the earliest Notice & likewise acquaint Mr Dickinson of Dufton that he may inspect those Mines early next Month previous to the letting. A Piece of Silver that Mr Walton sent to London previous to that of yours he only got 5s/9d a P[iece] sent by Mr Monkhouse he only obtained 5s/7d the last Piece sent by Mr Walton was near three Weeks after yours when the Price of fine Silver had risen: A large Piece will be taken off at Blaydon at Christmas and sent to Messrs Rundell & Bridge, when they will be informed that you expect 6s/- per Ounce, the Price which Mr Walton has obtained.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale.
