Dear Madam

I am favoured with your letter of the 8th. Inst: & observe that you are about having your two youngest Children Inoculated, in which I sincerely wish you Success I am extremely concerned for the loss that Mr. & Mrs. Lee have lately suffered; I acquainted Mr. Ingham (as you desired) with your determination of making use of the Cow Pox Matter for the purpose, by the advice of Doctor Denman & many other Medical Men, Mr Inghams answer was, that he would not Inoculate a Child of his own with that Matter. I had not been informed of the death of Richard Brook; Inclosed I send you the particulars that you require; I shall apply to Mr. Emm, the Bishops Agent to know what Sum of Money his Lordship will require for the putting in one Life in the Leases of Kilhope & Welhope & Lintzgarth in the place of the late Richard Brook; it will be necessary at the same time to produce Certificates that George Robson and William Sykes are living & in health at the present time which I will endeavour to obtain. The Accounts that you require were forwarded as by the enclosed, those for the last year are not in readiness. We shall be under a necessity of paying the Landtax for the Winlaton Estate for the want of the Certificate which has not yet been sent me.

      I am with Respects &c &c J.E.B.
